Campfire or Stovetop Popcorn
Super easy
Cheap

I know it’s such a VERY SIMPLE thing: Stovetop or CampFire POPPED Popcorn, but sometimes we need a little reminder how FUN and EASY it is to make snacks at home!

My kids ABSOLUTELY LOVE it when I take a few minutes to make a special stovetop batch of popcorn for movie night…even more special throughout the holidays!

This is an EXCELLENT snack idea for older children, & growing teens (like my 6) because they really love it, it’s economical, and REALLY EASY!

Ingredients

For 8 Serving(s)

Ingredients

3 tbsp cooking oil, canola, unrefined organic coconut oil, ghee, or avocado oil
3/4 cup PopCorn
1 to taste Finely Ground Popcorn Salt

Options

2 tbsp Butter or Vegan option
1 to taste Smoked Paprika
1 to taste Garlic Powder
1 to taste Onion Powder
1 to taste Cayenne Pepper
1 to taste Cinnamon

Campfire or Stovetop Popcorn Directions

  1. Place a heavy bottomed pot on your stovetop.
  2. Add oil and heat over medium-high heat.
  3. Once hot, CAREFULLY add 2-3 popcorn kernels as a test round. Once the first kernel pops, stir in the remaining corn.
  4. Carefully stir to evenly coat all the kernels with oil, then cover with a lid
  5. Next, allow the pot to sit undisturbed over medium heat. -You'll hear the popcorn pop continuously for about a minute or so. I like to shake the pot occasionally
  6. Once the popping stops or slows drastically, then immediately take the pot off the heat. Burnt popcorn is the worst, so tend to your batch!
  7. Dump in large serving bowl.  Add melted butter and stir now if you choose.
  8. Sprinkle with sea salt and paprika, or any seasonings of your choice, then toss to coat.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy with your favorite holiday movies cuddled up together

Notes

I prefer a 50/50 mix of white and yellow kernels from Jolly Time found at your local grocers or Rural Route 1 brand online.

Rural Route 1 White - The healthy snacking choice! Famous for its authentic corn taste, crisp whiteness, & tender texture, white is generally favored by true popcorn connoisseurs. Naturally high in fiber and low in calories!
Rural Route 1 Yellow - The healthy snacking choice! Plump, tender kernels bursting with real corn flavor is what makes yellow popcorn the most popular variety. Naturally high in fiber and low in calories!
